no sound on laptop

Yer I fixed it! Looks like it was a bad driver, though it was the windows verified driver, I donwloaded the factory driver defaults for this particular model and now it works.

How was that NOT one of the first few things that you tried?

Hmm... a sound issue.
Well, is the sound turned off? No it's turned up.
Is the speaker plugged in? Yeah, it's in
Maybe the drivers are corrupt...

I have a toshiba in at the moment its a Sattelite P100-160, And the sound isnt working at all,

I have tried drivers and updating and installing them but to no avail, Device manager detects all the devices and all are working correctly, The computer does sound on boot so I know the speakers work, And there is only one available driver for this laptop from toshibas website so it is the official driver. All sound devices in device manager are enabled and working with no problems or conflicts.

I dont know what else the problem can be apart from the internal sound card

 Didn't you already do that before your initial post or did you not select the correct model the first time you went to the Toshiba site?

I don't think "I have tried drivers" means what you think it means.

lol..Elemdee, I was just typing out exactly the same as you. I certainly got the impression that Jay had already installed the driver from the Toshiba website.

It was using the XP drivers for the sound card which registered in device manager as working,

So i went onto the chipsets website and downloaded the sound driver for the chip hoping it would work, these drivers do not come standard with the laptop

The chipset is made by conextant and if you google it you will see alot of people with the same problem.

I tried the offical sound drivers from the toshiba website with the service tag so it was definitley correct.
The windows drivers didnt work either, But when both drivers were installed windows didnt detect the device as not working or a conflict or incorrect hardware for driver version.
