So I remember lurking back before I was a member there was a thread on newsletter and ideas for them, although it was a great thread, didn't want to bring up a old post.

In our newsletters I write I try to get 1 blog link to our site, 2 general computer news/update articles that link to our site or the original authors. I also try to put in at least 3 different deals from our affiliates. I think this is a solid newsletter in thought, but it feels super super empty on screen.

What do you guys do, I did like the idea of makeing a huge newsletter deal with options for us to pick off and use. If anyone is interested in this I will be happy to maybe make a google site or a sugar sync or drop box folder for us to share stuff in.

I'd like a website (paid or free) that is targetted with articles for newsletters relevant for computer technicians.

I'd prefer to pick and choose what articles I'd like to include rather than be "given" an entire newsletter to send out with little or no chance of customisation in terms of content.

So if you get started on this let me know as I'm more than interested.

Well I wouldnt mind makeing a site geared at the subject I think it will be a excellent tool to have. I would never charge for the service, I dont think its the right thing to do. If I can get more people into the idea I will be happy to toss a site up or even a forum for it, and host it.

I know its been talked about I just don't know where it went, thats why I didnt post in the old thread it was kinda full of steam getting the movement but died.

I have almost 3 years of newsletters already done, I send them out 2-3 times a month. I have a method for them usually...one is tips and tricks, one is a promotion for Call That Girl and the other one is a cross promotion for other companies/affiliations.

The key to email newsletters is keep them simple. I used to spend hours working the templates, graphics to just finally giving it all up for simple text, bold and colors. If you sign up for my newsletters you can follow along for awhile, or I can send you a copy if you give me your email of the last few I have sent out.

I generally get a 20% open rate, and I sent to 5000 approx a each time. There is no rhyme or reason on my open rates, I have logged into many of my clients machines to assist them with Outlook and have seen my last newsletter unopened. It all depends on people's workload and what they want to read when they open their email. There is a also a small thing to consider, when you send them out. I get great open rates on Fridays, but I want "Call To Action" and get people to buy/email/call right then--but Fridays are not good days to call, people just want 5:00 to come. My biggest sales come from a $25 off tune-up special that I run every 2-3 months. They will sell out quick.

My next newsletter is about my 5 license giveaway from SuperAntispyware, going out today!

Edited to add, almost all my good blogs get in the newsletter and all of my newsletter have backlinks to the blog/website somehow. With a few exceptions.

Remember, the whole key to good email marketing is the whole package with a blog. Are you blogging Corbin?

We are gonna begin blogging here pretty soon, we actually jsut set it up with out new site, we are doing a name change so all my stuff is a tad crazy. But we are also doing a "re-image" to make us look more better and professional.

That was another thing I was planning to PM you I loved your book and your podnutz show, my 2 partners are a bit lame on the social front they are more business style so I took it all over for the marketing, promos, newsletters, site, blog, etc.

But I will definitely go sign up for your newsletter, I already read your blog.

Corbin, I sent you a private PM.

Thanks for the note here though, I do what I can to help others market/promote their businesses. It's the fun part of the business in my opinion. You will do well with the book when you get the blog up!

do any of you do how to guides that you have avaliable to customers ??

some like "How to burn music to a cd" or "How to plug your setup your computer after a sevice"

i think these would really help people and was debating whether to put some together or not

what you thing ?

I want to some simple "dumb dumb" guides but nothing to much for customers I still want them to ask and talk to me for advice, reason why is so I can build a strong professional relationship with them.

I'm gonna start up a new site, its techs only for stuff like that with info and anything current, I know there are thousands of ways to do stuff I just want to make it organized, and more customized. My goal is take what I found work and share it in depth, and hopefully it will catch on, and others will pitch in information on it. If you do want to jump in and help out PM me I will be more then happy to have more hands on deck.
