Hi Guys,

I just wanted to know your recommendation on something, we have a customer booked in next week to replace their motherboard and HD. Now we want to keep all the data on the drive intact and just wondered the best course of action to take.

1./ Get True Image with Universal Restore.
2./ Do a windows XP repair

Thanks
Sam

acronis true image universal restore is the way to go.

I used used acronis true image for a complete Vista backup of a system recently. Unfortunately I had the occasion to need it and retrieve the backup. I was shocked that It failed. I sat looking at the computer going "Oh crap" but I used different adjectives......

True Image will probably be the easiest. Or just install XP on the new drive, install the second as a slave drive and just copy the important files over. Of course if you go with the second way, all programs will be lost. I would go with True Image to be safe.

I would put a vote for repair install I have had problems with TI recently as well. I don't know if its because of vista or what, but I wouldn't chance it with someone elses data.
