Need help with Skype, doesn't detect webcam

HI guys,
need help with an issue where Skype doesn't recognize the webcam.
Tried 2 different webcams (Microsoft & Logitech) with latest drivers, webcam works with other applications but not on Skype.
I even installed on this machine a new Operating System XP and Win7 and still Skype won't recognize webcam. I tried all USB port, no luck. Installed a new USB card, no luck.
Tried Skype with the same webcams on other systems with XP or Win7 and it worked just fine.
What else can i try ??

You could try posting the model number / manufacturer of the webcam and what version of skype you are using.

also tried previous Skype versions but still no image from the webcam. picks up the microphone from the webcam but not the video.

Just cover the basics in the link above first. If your still having problems it could be a defective cam.

^I'd agree. Sounds like the cam+skype combo for some reason.

If that same webcam works elsewhere, it's not the cam. If that Skype recognizes other cams, it's not Skype.

Have you checked to see if there are any other instances of that combo having trouble?

Same webcam works on other machines with Skype

Skype does not work with other cameras on this machine either.

I have been trying to help Naulgo but this makes no sense. New OS same results. Different OS same results.

Had this exact issue with a machine in the workshop today.

Two webcams, one brand new, would work fine everywhere else in XP but Skype would not detect them.

Uninstalled the version of Skype that was on the machine, V6.3.something I think it was, and installed this version:
http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.1.0.129.msi

The webcams work again.
Also set it to not automatically update.

did you try running skype as admin? sometimes that messes with plugins though

the older version you linked is picking up the webcam.
