Everything looks good except for the fact its HP and Vista. Two things I'm not very fond of. About every other computer I fix is an HP so I'm not sure what that says about them. Vista, well I wont even start on that one. Good luck.

I'm not a big fan of HP laptops either. I'm sure we've all seen a laptop where the power brick is no longer charging the battery because of a bad connection. It seems like more often than not it's an HP/Compaq. Of course it could just be a matter of coincidence, or even their market share.

Personally if I had your budget I'd go with a thinkpad.

yea i had the same problem with my current hp, but it was fast and easy for me to get one so it wasnt a big deal for me. ANd im planning on doing a dual or tripple boot with vista, xp pro, and maybe linux, im also not a fan of vista, but i LOVE xp pro and ive never really messed with linux but i figure i better try it out and get use to it

memory in general I go with Corsair, Kingston, G. Skill, OCZ, and Crucial. These are what I have tried I am still open to other brands when ever I hear good things about them.

I have had really good luck with Corsair, Kingston, and G. Skill I have never tried OCZ but I have read good reviews about it.

@ dicklaw18
I'm also going dual boot OSX and XP Pro. I may give linux another shot at some point.
