Need graphics card advice

Hi guys.

I need a graphics card that works much better than what I've got.

Currently, when I have a simple 1080 YouTube video playing on one screen, it will frequently be all jerky & stutter, sometimes it happens with even lower-res videos.

Graphics performance overall, even for scrolling through regular webpages like Amazon, google news, etc, is not to my liking. It's not awful, but not as good as I feel it should be even with my current setup.

Here are my system specs:

- Nvidia GeForce GTX750 Ti
- W7 Pro x64
- 32GB RAM
- i7-2600K, 3.4ghz
- 256GB SSD
- Monitors: 4x Dell 27" UltraSharp QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution
- Chrome web browser.

What do I need to buy to improve my performance?

I don't really care about cost, I just want the damn thing to work. I spend WAY too much time on my PC to not have it function 100%.

I don't want to spend $1k unless I absolutely have to, but seems like the new GTX 1070 or 1080 are quite the graphics beasts & can be had for around $500 or so. Will THOSE work & run my stupid YouTube & movies on one screen while I email on the other?

Thanks!

What happens if you just run one monitor? Does it still have issues?

In all honesty, a 750ti shouldn't have that much difficulty on the desktop and I would be inclined to say you may have something else causing the issue. Barring your 'large' resolution of the 4 combined screens - it should do youtube just fine.

On a separate note - I had issues running dual monitors 'similar' to some of the points you have laid out... it boiled down to WDM, purely a Windows 7 issue dealing with multi-monitors.

I agree with phaZed, it doesn't seem like a GPU issue. A 750ti should handle that workload no problem. I've never had the privileged of working with four 2650x1440 monitors, but I ran two of 'em with a 660ti for years, playing games on one and my ripped bluray files on the other simultaneously without issue.

If your movies are streamed, maybe try using Firefox or Opera to test if it still happens, because maybe its an issue with Chrome? Chrome sometimes gets obnoxious issues overtime, and I will have to uninstall it with UVK/Revo and clear all preference files, etc to get it to work normal again.

750Ti should rip through anything you throw at it!
Have you tried a complete removal/reinstall of the latest nVidia driver?
Use a removal tool like Revo Uninstaller, Geek Uninstaller or similar.
Don't let nVidia do a "clean install" either because in my experience it is not a clean install!
After you completely remove the nVidia driver reboot twice before you reinstall.

This.

I have the same graphics card with half the specs you have and no issues when running 1080P videos on dual monitors. Seems like some processes might be running in the background that you aren't aware of.

LOL. The 750TI may be a bit dated, but it has a videobenchmark score of 3682. That's MORE than plenty for basic desktop use and 1080p video. I'd suspect a driver or other software issue before I'd jump to needing a new card. Either that or a power supply or something (unlikely, but you should check it out anyway).

Answer this question first and then mine which is....how in the world do you have 4x 2560 x 1440 resolution monitors connected to a single GTX750 Ti video card? As far as I know that is not possible, if i assume one of the model dell ultrasharps have dvi-d then you have 3 of them connected to the gtx 750 ti and one on board video? In which case if you leave all 4 monitors hooked up does the video and scrolling struggle on each monitor if you move the browser window 1by1 to each of the 4 monitors? Have you confirmed the refresh rate you are running in for all 4 monitors?

I see this a lot...........................
What is your connection like.....speed, ping, etc.
Poor connection = Poor performance, no matter what you have.
Sounds a lot like "buffering".
Also check resources being used......what, how much, when.
Also...hard drive.
If you can't scroll reg web pages, as stated, something else is going on.
Look outside the box.

its not buffering if his scrolling performance is poor

Edit: I know what hes talking about but ive never seen it occur when all the displays are connected to 1 graphics card

I have not tried one monitor only & I HAVE heard of Win7 just having crappy performance with multiple monitors....that sucks!

Is Win10 any better with multi-monitor support? Maybe its time for me to upgrade... :-/

Absolutely not; down is 90mbps, up is ~5mbps
Ping is 9ms.

It's not a buffering issue. It's hardware / software for sure.

The card has 4 video outputs and my Dell monitors have DP & HDMI.

Pretty simple.

I'll soon try disconnecting all but 1 monitor & let you know how it goes....thanks!

I am happy to report that Windows 10 works great for the same setup that was "sluggish on anything but the primary monitor" in Win7 - so yes, it fixed me up.

I run 3x 1920x1200 monitors on a GTX970 - no worries.

Hmmm....ok, interesting....thanks!

Just wanted confirmation that the graphics card I have - Nvidia GeForce GTX750 - should be more than sufficient to run 1080p video?
Seems like the problem is inherent to Win7, huh?
:-(

I dont have any problems, you havent given us an update as to what youve tried. On my dual video card setup I can lag a youtube video a little bit on the extra monitors if i have something on the primary that uses video card resources. It doesn't have to be a game or video I think I can actually get it to lag a tiny bit if I have a combination of windows like battle.net launcher for example since thats actually drawn via overlay like a real game from what i can tell.
