[REQUEST] My RAM :(

I'm not impressed with G.SKILL's customer service. They take too long to respond, skip answering questions, are very brief. The guy who answers the tech support line I can barely hear.

In the future I will probably purchase Corsair RAM for my gaming computer. Big fan of Crucial, but they do not sell high-end RAM that looks sweet in a gaming computer.
I used to really like the light-up RAM with the lights that blinked during reads and writes. I don't remember what it was called, but it was either Gskill or Corsair, I think.

Kingston also isn't know for high-end, but reliability is most important to me.

I'll be going with some RGB ram in the future so I can stare at the lights.

After building my new PC with RGB Ram (because nothing else had been compatible to the board at the moment buying) and also with a RGB graphics card (because nothing else had been compatible with my wishes) everything was glowing in red after turning the computer on. Thank god (or whomever) that my case doesn't have a window. Well, it has been a little bit tricky to explain my 12 year old son why there's a computer in the network named "whorehouse". I really can't take pleasure in all this modding stuff.

Dear Customer:

Memory kits are replaced with whatever we have in stock whether tested, refurbished, or new. The condition of the replacement is not guaranteed.

Thank you,
G.Skill USA RMA Department

"And if it turns out not to work, RMA it and we'll send your original RAM back and tell you we tested it. We'll happily repeat that until you get sick of it and go away."

I wish I could make a custom PC made with all EVGA parts - their customer service is the ****. I got them to replace my 970s (SLI) with brand NEW cards!

Not impressed at all with G.SKILL. They are a Taiwanese company, whereas EVGA is an American company (Corsair, too).

If your customer service sucks, I don't give a damn what the reviews say about your product, I am not doing business with you.

So far I have had very good experiences doing RMAs with Dell, Seagate, and EVGA.

Reading this post made me realize that I can not recall the last time I had RAM go bad.

Then again, I can not remember what I watched on Netflix even with that "continue watching for" banner.

I have a couple sticks floating around that I never got around to RMAing, and I don't really see the point now. I'm not sure I still have anything that I'd use DDR or DDR2 in, or a 1GB SODIMM for that matter.

A smaller, older SODIMM on the other hand might be useful - at least then there'd be a chance I could throw it into a printer.

Well I had a bad stick of 1gb DDR sodimm back in 2008. I never RMA'd it.

Had a couple over the last few years at work. Not many. Maybe a Kingston and a Corsair. I think we RMA'd them both. The other times we just returned them to Amazon.

I've built three machines for personal use since 2005.... a socket 939 opteron based build in 05, a socket 1337 i7 930 build in 2010 and this most recent Ryzen 1700X build.

In the first two builds, I used G.Skill memory (2GB in the first machine, 6GB kit in the second machine) and never had an issue in either machine which was the fault of the G.Skill memory. In this most recent build I bought a Corsair Vengance LPX DDR4 16GB kit rated at 3200mhz which will NOT run at 3200mhz in my machine even though the motherboard manufacturer (MSI) has this kit listed as compatible. After much tweaking, I got it running at 2933 mhz but no further. Apparently Corsair changed the memory chips without doing anything to indicate the change had been made. Pretty shady if you ask me.

So all in all, I guess I'm saying I had good luck with G.Skill and bad luck with Corsair... although the sample sizes in both cases are very small :)

Usually, in Australia when you RMA ram or HDD's they have to be sent to Malaysia, Indonesia or China.
By the time you pay the freight/postage and consider the time it takes to get a replacement you're better off just replacing the part and moving on.
