Just for a laugh a bit of a laugh.

So my mother in law does proof reading as a job. She has been using a Windows Vista PC for her job since new. Her husband died nearly a year ago and had just bough a nice new windows 10 machine. I kept trying to tell her to switch over as vista is well....vista and her machine was running so slow. she wouldn't. then reluctantly she let me back up her computer with fabs 2 months ago and put it on the other computer. still not used it.

Finally the other day I get a call the vista machine has packed in. so I went round. It;s had it. gets her set up on the windows 10 machine.

She texts me. She is getting used to it and it is really fast but she is sad she can't play her windows vista spider solitaire and inkball. Is there no way we could get her old one to work just for them she will pay. I explained there isn't.

Then i remembered my old vista machine in the garage I had put linux on and don't use very often. I install vista on it as it has a vista key made sure the games were there.

took it round and set it up where the windows 10 machine was with no internet and nothing but her games on it.

She was so excited and promises only to play those games on there and nothing else. The smile on her face and the excitment LOL

Keeping the mother in law happy priceless.

yes but now she has a work machine and a social machine. she was sometimes having to go and have a cuppa for stuff to load. and she was very very fond of her little machine. i tried to convince her every which way. at least now she is happy and its not dire if this one breaks. she is now using the better one solely for work and this one for the games

As long as you're not thinking that the Vista machine is secure - Extended Support (security updates) ended for Vista in April, 2017.

Legally, they're probably pirated and shouldn't be installed.
I did not realise this!
Darn!
Now I have to explain to Janice, Fred and a few others why I can't reinstall it for them!
Maybe I can sell them a cheap $40 "Pogo" Android tablet from BigW loaded up with free games from the Play Store?

A long time ago I copied the Windows XP games from an old XP system and saved them as a zip file. Now, if people want the "old" games, I give them that. They aren't as colorful as the Vista/Windows 7 versions, but they work fine in Windows 10 and make my old folks happy. I've attached it here if anybody wants it.
