But oh well. Your VM now has one job, just to run your machine. It doesn't (hopefully) have to go online, and I say rock on. Back up the image, as hardware fails, just load on your next box.
That's exactly what I'm thinking too. It doesn't go online. All it does is load some code and convert it to language our machine understands. It is now running circles around the old one and I've tested it on two machines and it works great. It found its semi-permanent home on a core i3 machine which is light years above what it was on before.
I did run into blue screens on one machine with errors with s3.sys and processr.sys which seems to be a known issue, but I found a workaround and it seems fine.
It is so much more efficient now because programs can be written and converted and exported all from the same fast machine. Just hitting save on the old machine was cringe worthy because you knew it would be forever before it was done. Forget a semicolon and need to redo the process? I hope you have 10 minutes. Now it takes seconds.
