I know this was brought up many times with the new Internet smart TV's. Now another appliance manufacturer, iRobot, is planning on selling data collected by their robotic sweeper to others.

Yes. Saw that yesterday. A couple of years ago or so I read/saw something about a University professor who hooked up electrodes to various muscles/nerves in his arm to demonstrate they can transmit the information wirelessly to a robotic hand.

What the microchip idea makes me think of, if you ever read the Bible where it talks about the mark of the beast that people would have to take to be able to buy our sell.

I'm not saying that those things in the articles are necessarily that, but that technology is to close for my taste. From what I gathered, it would be effectively your key to get in the building, but lunch etc. Same thing some companies accomplish maybe with electronic key fobs. You can see from an IT perspective why they want people to do it, you don't have to worry about people losing their fob, can lock someone out of your building relatively easily. To the human mind it makes sense.

Myself however, nope, I will not be getting one of those. I think what else is sad is how willing people are to line up for that just so they can say they have the newest thing.
