mojave installer

Have you guys had any trouble getting a mojave installer? Unlike other versions using the app store only seems to download a small 22mb stub installer

Just checked my laptop and my Install macOS Mojave, in the Applications folder (it's normal location) is 6.03gb. But I've never tried to upgrade it via the app store. So I checked two other of my machines and also have it in the Applications folder but with different mod dates, presumably when they were downloaded. Checked a couple of customer machines and it's the same thing, full installer already in the app folder.

I guess I was not clear enough. I did nothing at all other than have machines turned on, connected to the Internet with a valid App Store account logged in. This is the first time I've seen an OS upgrade automagically get downloaded and I'm not happy about that. I don't consider an OS upgrade to be part of the regular maintenance of the existing version of OS. As @timeshifter pointed out there are ways to get these. There's always someone somewhere with too much time on their hands.

A little off topic, but downloading older versions of Mac OS through the apps store is TORTURE if you're running Mojave. Every time you download it, Mojave b*tches and moans about it not being compatible with the computer Mojave is currently running on. I had to do some crazy stuff through the terminal to prevent it from trying to automatically update and install the older Mac OS software as soon as it was downloaded from the app store.

I really like Mojave's dark mode, but I really don't like the way Apple is going with Mac OS. It's slower than ever and I constantly have to fight with it to do every little thing. I thought it was because my 2012 Mac Mini (top of the line i7 Mac Mini Server) was just too old and not optimized for Mojave so I bought a souped up 2018 Mac Mini. It's just as slow and buggy and now I've got a computer with the SSD soldered to the logic board. Thanks, Apple!

I had a client who asked me, as I was finishing up my visit, for "one last thing" - turn off those Mojave notifications. I did a quick Google search and came up with this link with a solution. Read it and told her she's just going to have to put up with clicking "not now".

BTW have had a bit of an upswing in Mac business since they started shoving Mojave down their user's throats - the "upgrade" tends to break little things like Mail, Photos, and iTunes.

Mojave also breaks anything that needs disk access, like BDGZ, BackBlaze, etc.

Our bone yard of 2011/2012's is growing fast! Mojave is the final push to another Mac... and boy are people surprised when they say things like, "How much is the best iMac these days" - love to see their expressions as I show them the iMac Pro price tag.

Yeah, Apple's been having a rash of issues. I've had several customers in which Safari suddenly broke. After searching around the only apparent solution is to upgrade.

On the disk access. Yes, they do have a beefed up permissions scheme which I'm actually happy about. Makes it even harder for a machine to get p0wned and it results in more revenue since customers don't understand what's going on.

I don't do Apple anymore unless its HDD/SSD or memory upgrades that CAN BE upgraded. I know I'm losing money, but I'm also saving money from not having to spend it on Tylenol or booze..
