Does anybody have a mobile website? I mean one that is specifically designed for smart phones. I am considering creating one. With smart phones increasing in popularity. More people are searching the web on their phones. I know if someone only has one computer and it is down. They might use their phone to search for repair. And, if your site isn't optimized for the web, potential customers may look else where. I think this might be a real good idea for anyone in the computer repair business.

Any thoughts on this subject?

I agree, i have had a good website for a while now but recently i have found a number of users visiting it from smart phones (google analytics shows me), my girlfriend has started creating one for her design website so when she is done with that i will be requesting a copy to change and add to my site.

But i think you need to give users a clear choice on which one they want to view, otherwise when the go onto the site from an ipad or similar they will be forced to use a site designed for a 3" screen.

have you started any designs yet?

Were working on it, when we launch I expect both the mobile site and the regular site to be up.

I haven't. I noticed the same as you in Google Analytics. This is one of the main reasons I am considering it. Also, I'm not sure how the 2 sites will interact with each other. Do I want a .mobi or do I create a sub-domain for my smart phone site. Like m.yoursite.com. Seems most are creating sub-domains. Anyway, I still am unclear on how my analytics will work with this. Will a mobile site take away from my main site? Are they same?

There is no reason to create a subdomain i dont think, you could just have your mobile site in a folder on your website for example yourdomain/mobile/index.html" and your normal site would be yourdomain.com/index.html

You can have your mobile site in any directory you choose, then simply add a bit of code to detect if the user is using a mobile device (several different ways of doing this) that loads the mobile site instead of the regular site.

Thanks, I'll take a look for that code.
