Mobile phone repairs, what kind of sticky tape ?

I received some double sided tape today to repair phones and it isn't very thick or very sticky.

I am dubious to whether it could hold a phone screen/digitiser in place.

The stuff that was on the phone originally is super super sticky and a little bit like foam so a bit thicker than actual tape.

does anyone know what the tape is called and where i might find it ?
Or what do you guys use ?

I have this http://www.digiexpress.us/3M-300-LSE-Tape-Roll_p_368.html not very thick at all but very very sticky. Works on everything I've used it on so far. Most of the digitizers we get come with a pre cut tape piece, but for the ones that don't the roll above works good

Do you just trim it to the thickness you need then ?
How do you do this without it being messy ?

The stuff I bought is 2mm thick and that was perfect thickness.

Exacto knife, without being messy ummm it's messy sometimes. I leave one side of the paper on the sticky and stick the otherside to the device or screen/digitizer... a roll of wax paper or something that it doesn't stick to helps trim it down. It's really for only when I need something and there isn't a pre-cut one avail or around. Like on the edges of the IPod Gen 4. Ya it's messy on the IPod4 sometimes trying to get a nice bead on it, I leave it wide and trim it after pressing the screen in, helps to leave the plastic cover on the new screen too.
