Mini Zalman/IODD Possibly Coming to the Market

I love the idea of having a smaller zalman. It's a shame that the promo is so bad though :( Also it looks like they are just showing a mobile phone instead of a zalman, I thought originally it was just to show the size of it but then I found myself doubting it. Don't need that many buttons imo.

Would still buy one though.

The current Zalman VE-400 has that many buttons. http://www.zalman.com/contents/products/view.html?no=161

I don't think I'd want one that didn't use a replaceable, standard laptop hard drive. I always have laptop drives sitting around, so if something goes wrong with one of my iodds or zalmans, I can crack it open and quickly replace the drive and get it up and running again.

As far as being smaller, I carry mine around in my backpack so the somewhat smaller dimensions have no real value to me.

I used to replace drives regularly until I went to an SSD, been running great for over a year. I also carry mine in a backpack so size isn't a big deal, but this could have it's uses.

Their campaign is pretty bad, I think they could benefit a lot from having a native English speaker review and update.

I like the existing setup of an enclosure that you can put your own drive in, but since mSATA was such a temporary thing (replaced quickly by M.2 / PCIe) they were probably going to have to do more work anyway. Still, I think a mini enclosure supporting SATA3 and mSATA might be something that they could get out faster than a year from now.

I was considering supporting it just because, then I saw its a "flex goal". Flex goals are the biggest f-ing scam there is, and I lose respect for anyone who pulls that bs.

If you don't know what it is, it basically means that even if they don't reach their goal and therefore cannot produce the product... They still get to keep all your money and you get jack for it.

I'm seriously not seeing the point. I have 2 Zalman's that work flawlessly. But... I don't use them anymore. I use RUFUS to create bootable USB drives which are cheaper and probably more robust than my Zalman's.

I use Rufus and a keychain of flash drives, but I seem to always have issues with them on certain computers. The IODD drive I have has always worked in those cases. Its weird, because the IODD will sometimes also not work, but the flash drives will. So, obviously, I have both on hand at any given time.
