Maybe I'm just tired and scrolling over the answer... but what I have never understood about technet is it's a 1-year license (ok i get I have to pay again in a year), but lets say I don't renew... the software that I get, does it expire, stop working, show up as not genuine, or anything along those lines... just seems like 199 would be a cheap way to get a bunch of software... Thanks for helping my ignorance.

No it doesn't. But one very important thing about TechNet. You don't "get" any software.

All of the software on there is only for TRIAL purposes and for learning or testing environments. None of it is to actually be used for production use. So even if the licenses did expire, it shouldn't affect anything.

Has anyone here subscribing to this found their "Managed Forums" and "Online Concierge Chat" useful?

Not so slashed in Australia.

Could someone help meunderstand MS pricing. It is currently AU$337.00 but if I were to be "billed" in USA or UK the price would be equal to AU$237.00.

I wanna save myself a hundred bucks.
Thanks.

If you can't use the software then its a complete waste of money. If you can use the software its not a bad deal. Personally I have been thinking about getting it but not if I'm not allowed to use the software.

I have a Technet sub ... I have been "testing" Office 2010 since they put the beta up on the Technet download list... it wont expire and yes I can "test" it indefinitely. This is one of the main reasons I got my Technet sub was to be able to see betas and get software when it first released so I could get familiar with it ahead of my customer base for support.

Also being able to download the ISO's of all the OS's is really nice. I have most of the server versions ( some I had never heard of until I got Technet like Groove server )

Plus you can download the Technet KB Library every quarter which is quite handy.

All in all I believe Technet is worth the $$
