Microsoft Offering $14.99 Upgrade to Windows 8

So long as I don't have to install as soon as I buy...I might go for it. Of course, it'll probably be US-only.

First time I read the subject I thought MS were paying $14.99 to people who upgrade.
Would make more sense that way.....

It should be free. You buy a brand, new PC with Windows 7 after the Windows 8 launch date, and you should not have to pay.

That said, I am in no rush to upgrade to Windows 8... I run it on my laptop and don't really like it.

It's a good price, but I read that Windows 8 has only one browser.

I agree that it should be free. In the past, MS and OEMs offered free upgrades to the next version of Windows so that people considering a new PC when a new OS version was on the horizon would buy now instead of waiting until after the new version was released.

Cause most people aren't knowledgable enough about it to know that a PRE 8 pc is likely not gonna have a touch interface, so they are gonna buy a 7 pc and think getting 8 for 15.00 is gonna be some kinda deal.. It's not gonna be the same upgrade experience vista to 7 was..

My point was that it isn't a "deal" since MS wants to charge $15 for something that should be free, even though MS may present it as such.
