Microsoft blames US for the design of the START Menu...

and yeah, it's a change!

There is nothing so constant as change, and nowhere is change more constant than in computing.

We all have our pet loves and hates, in each and every iteration of software we've used, but it changes. Period. End of sentence. You pretty much have to use what's available, and the energy spent complaining about it is better spent learning the changes so your life can become "the new normal."

They put the "file" menu in the top right... Ok, it's the share button which was always up there, but it's now colored like file was!

That's not just a change, it's a bloody paradigm shift and it doesn't fit with any other apps on the platform. Mostly just due to color placement, usage isn't really all that different. But yeah, people are VERY up in arms over it.

My users won't see it for another year, because I'm smart and use semi-annual updates for Office.

@Philippe A solid UI rework is a good thing every now and again, but yeah in this case I agree. There was change for change sake, it certainly isn't improving my productivity. All it's doing is making my phone ring.

"A solid UI rework" -> (implies) "improving my productivity". They (MS, Apple & their marketing teams) should keep that in mind! :)

@Sky-Knight I changed to the new look a few weeks ago on all of my computers and am very used to the side bar. Now when I help clients I have to remember, they are not on the new look and I have to admit, it's nice having it on the side. I don't use the shortcuts but I added them all to fill it out. Add the Admin icon and that will be awesome lol.
