I've got one and it's worth every penny. I'm a bit gobsmacked in fact that any techie would take the risk of operating without one, beside the simple principle of paying for the tools that earn you money. It's less than a bottle of beer a week.
Googling [Dont.steal.our.software.a Malwarebytes Portable] pulls up a bunch of sites that are offering KeyGens and full versions for download. The good thing is that on these versions, that warning is detected. Apparently on some of them, that is all that is detected.
On a similiar note I was testing MBAM on a VM I created with a pirated copy of XP and it came up with the I.Stole.Windows.trojan. I LOL'd and rebuilt the VM with a legit copy.
