Simple things like those fake AVs I just remove by hand its very easy to do. With bigger stuff I use scanners.

It is also important to check that the DNS has not been hijacked, the HOSTs file is not modified and the internet is not being routed via a dodgy proxy server.

I am currently refining my took kit as I type this as I have the afternoon off.

I'd have thought that SAS would've got more votes

personally I always MBAM first and then SAS

I noticed on the CTG Podnutz podcast that Steve didn't mention SAS - has he stopped promoting it?

malware removal

32 bit operating system I use ccleaner, combo fix, malwarebytes, xp also use manual removal. And avast just in case there is a virus.... remove any unwanted startup items....and sometimes hijackthis.

All In One Computer

Right now I'm gonna try and build a winpe os that contains command line version of sophos and trend micro (and maybe other antiviruses if possible), as well as the command line a-squared and portable superantispyware. Add Autoruns to that, and not much will survive.

MBAM, SAS, Hitman Pro, Combofix, and MSE. I'll run HijackThis and BHR to clean out registry, start-up and check the host file.

I want to try out the Dr web live CD.
