[WARNING] Major Data Breach reported at Equifax

Yawn.... Another huge breach? LOL!!!

It's a catch 22 situation so to speak. A big part of security is not putting all your eggs in one basket, I mean database. But breaking it up into much smaller blocks and systems drives up costs and decreases company performance.

Not that it will stop this kind of thing from happening... but companies need to start being held accountable for this type of thing. They discovered the breach back in July AND WAITED ALMOST TWO WHOLE MONTHS TO DISCLOSE IT. Oh, and not to mention that their talking heads (executives) sold over 2 mil $ worth of their stocks BEFORE DISCLOSING THE BREACH TO THE PUBLIC.

Looking forward to the next batch of bogus e-mails.

Ha Ha!

By the way, check the fine print. If you accept the free year of credit monitoring you give up your right to sue them.

And this sort of breach, a year isn't enough. You're exposed for life unless you close every account, and get new ones.

Considering they already offer that as a service it's not a big deal. I also find it interesting that they will basically enroll anyone. Great way to develop new revenue streams.

Good point. I'll stick with my Zander Insurance.

Exactly. You can bet that you have to provide credit card details to get your free year, and that after that has expired you will be automatically renewed for the low, low price of $XX. That, and the liability waiver would keep me from signing up, that's for sure.

I feel dumb now because the article I read it from yesterday made it sound like all it did was check to see if you were exposed so I entered my information and I thought it was weird I never got an answer except to check back in a week. I certainly won't be going back to enroll now after ready this.
