I have several Win 8 machines I need to do a RESET on. Already did one and it took about 8 hours! I thought I had done something wrong, but after a little research, I found this to be common. Anyone know where I can get an ISO for 8.1?

Also - what if the machine has no COA (UEFI) is being used, how can I get the reg #'s to re=install it? This has turned into a TECH'S nightmare! In other words, makes more sense to me to do a nuke n pave instead of Microsoft's "RESET".

Doesn't anyone google? You DON'T need a serial number to reinstall Windows 8 on a machine that shipped with it. The CD-Key is stored in the bios and is retrieved automatically in the background.

I also have a program in my cocktail to extract reg keys from the board.... just Google it :D

"This works for me (consolidated from other TN posts)

If the PC will boot, run RWEverything (http://rweverything.com/) to display the BIOS key. (Click "ACPI" tab, then "MSDM" tab)
If the PC won't boot, delay this step until later.
Install Win 8 using the appropriate generic key:
a) 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT for Core/Home (8.x)
b) XHQ8N-C3MCJ-RQXB6-WCHYG-C9WKB for Professional (8.x Pro)
If you weren't able to display the BIOS key in step 1, do it now using RWEverything
Change the product key to the one extracted in step 1
The OS will show as activated"
