Hi, I have an 11inch MacBook Air, from water damage the keyboard no longer works. So I replaced the keyboard. However, with the new Keyboard the MacBook starts, and certain buttons like Caps Lock and Enter Button as well as the Power Button which is on the Keyboard works. But all the buttons in between don't work.

I am not sure what I have done wrong. I wanted to make you aware that:

* I have used the keyboard backlight from the old keyboard. However, even by taking the back light out completely its not working.

* I have not replaced all the rivets with the screws. However, I am not sure if this could cause such a problem!

What else could it be? The laptop is working, and its been about 2 weeks since the liquid damage!

Can anyone add any light to my situation?

Thank you.

I would guess if the keyboard sustained liquid damage the motherboard could have also. You could try cleaning the contacts on the mobo where the keyboard plugs - Reboot - Cross Fingers. :) Good luck!

Keyboard new or used that you replaced the old one with? Have you inspected the connector closely with a jeweler's loupe or microscope to make sure there aren't any bent wires?

Hi Guys thanks for your feedback.

@ComputerProVA I suspected the Logic Board could be damaged, however, since everything else on the laptop seemed OK, I thought he may have got off lucky. But I did consider that the connection to the keyboard could have been damaged by water.

@inbargains Keyboard is new. No I have not tested the connector closely with a jewellers loupe. I suspect the keyboard is most likely OK. But I could obviously check with a microscope.

I posted this thread hoping that I may have missed something obvious. Thanks.
