I am having a strange issue with a Mac Pro 2006 1,1. 8gbs of ram, one 250 gb drive and another 500 gb drive installed. I have 10.7.5 installed on the 250gb with all of the updates installed. Video card is an 8800GT 512mb with Dual DVI connectors. I have a dual monitor setup, one dvi and one vga with dvi adapter. The machine works fine without any issues in Mac OS.

I am attempting to get Windows 7 64bit on the machine. The person that had owned the machine before was running Windows 7 64bit only on the machine with a PC video card installed. I am aware of the issues with getting 64bit running through boot camp so I am installing it directly to the 500gb from the Windows installation disc and using Refit Boot Manager. The install goes through the initial process and when it restarts the monitor stays blank. The issue seems to be with the dvi monitor connector. If I have the one vga monitor connected through the dvi adapter I can finish the installation process. I have downloaded the latest drivers and updates.

For some reason when booted into windows it will not recognize any monitor connected through DVI. Windows will recognize the monitor is attached and will show me settings for the monitor but the screen remains blank. I have tried multiple DVI monitors and they all do the same thing. I am going to try another DVI cable in the next few days but I am out of other ideas since everything works on the Mac OS Side. Anyone else seen this particular issue before?

What issues? Is there a known issue with bootcamp with that model?

I'm not familiar with getting a PC video card to work on a Mac, but I have heard it is a lot of hassle. Does the firmware have to be flashed? If that's the case, maybe you have to install the bootcamp drivers in order to get it working right.

THe video card I have currently is a mac card. Bootcamp on this model only supports 32 bit versions. Yeah to get a pc card to work it has to be flashed to work with Mac.

Ah, I see.

I'd guess it is a driver problem. Looks like some people have force installed some of the 64bit bootcamp drivers, maybe that is the way to go. However, I'm not sure it will have the driver for your graphics card since the Mac isn't supported. Personally, I just wouldn't do it. If Apple
didn't intend for it to happen, and there is no known reliable work around, I'd leave it alone.

It works in Windows with just the VGA monitor attached. Usually run a dual monitor setup. Some reason it will not recognize the monitors that use the DVI connection. Will see if a new dvi cable fixes the issue.
