Change to the core needs to the password to entered. Still waiting to find Virus on the mac.

Look, another tech who has never seen a Mac virus. How many more need to chim in before you realize you are wrong? Its not even a debatable point anymore.

I know. It just bothers me that so called "techs" are out there like him telling customers this garbage. People look to us for computer advice. This is exactly the reason to this day people still think you can't game on a Mac, can't right click, and can only do graphics, music and video on a Mac. Ignorant "techs" spreading FUD.

I love some of the arguments anti mac people have. The right click is a classic. It's like they've given it all of five minutes to try one and gave up. Gaming? Check out the App Store! Some killer titles coming out now. Seriously thou. They're just showing how stupidly ignorant they are. Macs are so much easier for me to repair. I feel pain with windows machines. Every single one is filled with crap. Takes twice as long.

Don't argue with gunslinger its a waste of time. Even if you did get your hands on a mac virus nothing would change. Hell I don't think I could get my hands on a working mac virus. Not because they don't exist...everyone that keeps up with that information knows they exist. Hell I know they exist and I don't even work on macs.

I have seen 2-3 macs infected with a virus doing click fraud. I don't work on macs but I do record activity on my website and occassionally if I have extra time I will look through the recordings to see how visitors act.

This is the kind of logic Apple bashers use though. Their whole thought process is geared toward "Macs are evil and I must bash them at all cost" Even when everything in the real world disagrees with them.

Why is that confusing to you? If I see an automatic click bot on my site coming from a domain I know is used by malware authors and only malware authors then yes its a mac with a virus that does click fraud. My website records your mouse cursor and your actions.


Edit: if I get you a mac virus does it have to be an active working one that hasnt been patched?

I missed the "shop owner" part of what you said. I defiantly agree that they should know better.

I may not recommend an antivirus after all if the viruses aren't really in the wild.

What I'm saying is this:

1. Not a single tech I know has seen a legit virus for Mac in the wild in years.

2. Not a single tech on any forum I'm on has been able to provide me with a sample of a Mac virus in 6 years. (this includes making the challenge on youtube as well)

3. If the security blogs are saying there are a number of real Mac viruses in the wild and that Macs are as vulnerable as PCs they are either uninformed or purposely spreading FUD.

Is all you need to do is turn off Flash and Java to protect from Flashback-type attacks, then you would not really need an AV?

I always disable Java. I havent had problems with Adobe but it might not be a bad idea to install a plugin in chrome to only enable it when needed. Again, the only things I'm seeing on Macs is the occasional browser hijack and a social engineering scam now and again. With chrome I'd also install the adblock extension so no one will be tempted to click on popups.

1. Sure it does. These are real people who work on real Macs every day. If they arent seeing infections thats because they aren't there. Its pretty simple logic. If real doctors in the real world arent seeing a lot of cases of the black plague chances are good there arent very many.
