Low cost remote software without router config

Loved Teamviewer but their pricing sucks...Logmein close enough and I went with them. I was actually surprised how many features they have. Personally I think you get a little more with LogMein as opposed to some of the bare-bones free solutions.

Teamviewer expensive, c'mon. You get what you pay for? I use teamviewer and it paid for itself after 10 jobs. Teamviewer is quick, reliable and best of all you can configure it with your brand.

If you want Teamviewer w/o the big upfront cost, look into GFI Max. It has Teamviewer 6 built in to it. Everything is not perfect, but it seems to be working for me. It cost .35 cents a month to run teamviewer that way.

Is this not just the free version of teamviewer thrown in with gfi. Maybe I'm mistaken

no its the pay version. very reliable. use it all the time. file transfer and the hole works. best part is no upfront cost my remote business is just building up so the team viewer upfront fee was to restrictive and i didnt want the play fair speech coming up on a client machine.

GFI is the parent company and owner of teamviewer. They have customized teamviewer into gfi max as the take control function. The biggest problems I have run into so far:

1. If the PC already has teamviewer 7 on it, the gfi agent is supposed to automatically uninstall 7 and install 6, this does not always work for some reason. (I have not opened a support request with gfi on this but should have)

2. You don't just install teamviewer on the PC with gfi max, you install their agent with takecontrol functionality and the wait until the agent working in the background gets teamviewer installed. But GFI Max also has additional vnc based remote control software so you can still get instantaneous access to a customer's machine.

Ive been using Techinline for the last 2 years and very happy with it. These days I dont do a lot of remote work, so the PAYG option is great value for my usage at about $6 per session. They have a 15-day free trial option available to see what its all about.

Check RHUB remote support appliance. It is within your budget. Very solid solution.

Hi,

I wondered if anyone has been in a similar position, in that I've used a couple of remote software packages in the past. These have both required me to open/forward ports on the local router to my work P.C in order to use the software. I recently moved offices and now have no access to the local router. I have no way of forwarding the correct ports to use my remote access software correctly. I've found Remotezilla, but that will require me to open ports on my home router to a local P.C and then forward the traffic from the home P.C. This sounds like it could introduce SLLLOOWW connections and response times.

I am looking for a reasonably priced solution. ;) I'm aware there are products out there that seem to cost $$1000.00's that will do the job and don't require port forwarding or router configuration. Has anyone found a reasonably priced solution for the average sole trader/single technician setup??

Thanks for any help.
