Low cost remote software without router config

Hi,

I wondered if anyone has been in a similar position, in that I've used a couple of remote software packages in the past. These have both required me to open/forward ports on the local router to my work P.C in order to use the software. I recently moved offices and now have no access to the local router. I have no way of forwarding the correct ports to use my remote access software correctly. I've found Remotezilla, but that will require me to open ports on my home router to a local P.C and then forward the traffic from the home P.C. This sounds like it could introduce SLLLOOWW connections and response times.

I am looking for a reasonably priced solution. ;) I'm aware there are products out there that seem to cost $$1000.00's that will do the job and don't require port forwarding or router configuration. Has anyone found a reasonably priced solution for the average sole trader/single technician setup??

Thanks for any help.

I've checked with them over email and the the Premium licence allows you to connect with unlimited home users or companies using any version as a trial.

Super easy to use. Fast connection.

+1 for AMMYY Admin. The Business Premium license was only $70, it's fast and works like a charm. My only wish, is that the customer doesn't see "Free for home use" in the header of their user interface. The file transfer process is also rather weird, but works fine.

Are you looking to have remote access to the same machines over time or an on demand option clients can install when they need you to connect?

Thanks for the replies and the link to the chart. There are so many remote support programs out there, means this chart is really helpful. Maybe you could add a category for ease of configuration I tried Screenconnect and found this way to difficult to configure when compared to say Teamviewer or LMI. I also tried RemoteZilla but had to jump through several hoops to get that to work (It might just be me though!)

I am looking to provide a service where the customer clicks a link on my website and a remote connection is made to my P.C, for tech support. I need to do this without having to configure my local router and network firewalls. It looks like AMMYY might do the trick, I will give it a go. I've previously used Teamviewer, which was awesome, but the cost difference of over $600.00 between AMMYY and Teamviewer is significant!!

Playing with Supremo now, not as quick as LMI and file transfer is limited to 128MB. But, 128MB is quite a lot, for a tx.

Also, the host service won't run in safe mode, not in XP anyway, I haven't tried it with other Windowses.

I use gotoassist for clients that are not on my MSP service (That includes it's own remote support tool)

You can pay by the month or get a day pass. The day pass is good for 24 hours and costs $10. I only use it a few times a month so it's worth it for me. It does not require any type of router configuration and it is easy for the client to install.

I use Log Me In Pro. Works pretty well, fairly customizable, and runs off of a client on the users PC so you don't need to worry about any configuration except installation.

As far as on demand, I email my customers a direct link to download the client that I setup a licence for.

The also do trials for the computers, so if it's gonna be a short term thing then the trial will be fine for the fix and you won't have to pay!

Loved Teamviewer but their pricing sucks...Logmein close enough and I went with them. I was actually surprised how many features they have. Personally I think you get a little more with LogMein as opposed to some of the bare-bones free solutions.

I'm just now giving Supremo a fair look. I am not seeing a "Reboot and Reconnect" option nor a "Reboot into Safe Mode". IMO, without those, it's just good for screen sharing or you need to tether your customer to the desk.

Edit:
Oh, and it can't touch Kaspersky windows which is really the only thing I need to keep a second program on-hand. I still have to borrow TV just to affect KAV windows :/ as ScreenConnect cannot (yet) do so.

downside of ammyy is it's the current software of choice for the indian remote scam artists so credibility lost right away in many users eyes as your grouped in with them as soon as they hear the software name.

www.simple-help.com

it has reboot, reboot into safe mode, and is mobile device compatible . I like it a lot and its one of the cheaper ones

simple help always has been and always wil be the workhorse of remote support.

Have said it before in other posts it like that old banger of a car bit slower than others but you know on the cold winters morning it going to start first time and get you to your destination.

We have recently gone back to using it again as our main app for home clients from gotoassist which has lost its way.

That's not the case in my experience. Not one person has ever mentioned it or even noticed that. You can change the icons etc and have it downloaded from your own website to it looks as legit as anything else.

Try the latest version; it can run as a service so you can handle reconnects. (Haven't tried it).

Just used Ammyy Admin this afternoon on a system running KAV and no problem at all. KAV never squeeked, whereas Techinline was unable to get past it on other systems, unless the user made an exception in KAV for me.

Not my experience either, most of the... "We are calling from Windows and have detected a problem with your computer = now pay us £200"... scammers that i've come across recently seem to have been using Teamviewer.
