Looking for a iso image server

Hi!

Some time ago I saw on Technibble blog or maybe Lifehacker blog about a iso image server capable of serving cd/dvd images and boot client computers using them. I am not sure where I read about it but I've been looking for it for a while and I cannot find it any more. I think it was free or shareware software, but I am not really sure

I would appreciate suggestions about this kind of software, it would be very helpful for me. Anyone can suggest me some software names?

Thank you a lot!

Thank you for the link but it's not exactly what I am looking for :( but it's an interesting article anyways.

What I need is a way to boot a client PC from a "cd/dvd image" stored in a remote server: Maybe a live linux cd, an OS installation disc, etc.... As far as I remember from the article I read, it uses bootp to allow the client pc to boot. I dont remember now if it's able to serve the images as the descripted jukebox in the previous link, but it would be nice as well :D (I am not looking for remote restoration of hard disk images like ghost or other software, just a way to boot from cd/dvd images stored in a server)

anyways, thanks a lot ;)

Great idea! Please let me know what you find as I would love to have something similar but don't have any time at all to invest in looking around for something like that. Keep me informed!

This is what I use: MagicISO

You can mount and unmount any ISO as a virtual disk. Works fine.

but will it mount & boot to the image prior to windows loading? I already have alcohol 120%, that does the same stuff, the trick is getting an iso to load before windows does to run some kind of boot cd image, then use a vnc prgm in the image to take control remotely. Running a virus scan from ubcd4win off of a cd or image after windows has already loaded doesn't get the same success as far as removals.

No it won't, but if you slipstream it onto a UBCD4WIN disk, that might work (& you could probably do that with Alcohol too). Another alternative might be to boot from the NIC via PXE?
