Logo Review Pls?

Hi All,

I've been lurking here for a while, and posting more recently, i'll do a formal introduction in the introductions section today.


I was just wondering if you all could review my first draft of what could possibly be my logo, feel free to pick it apart and add constructive crticism anywhere you see fit, it'll only better it and help me get a true opinion, don't sugar coat anything!

I've added a color version and a greyscaled, they both fit CMYK standards for printing and are both vector graphic so can be scaled without losing quality.

What is this CMYK standard? I'm at the same stage as you and am worried that the files sent will not be good for printing purposes etc...

Thanks for all the replys so far guys! the reason i included the grey-scaled image was for the purpose of how it could look on letterheads/photocopies etc.

CMYK is a colour module for printing, Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Key (it consists of the colours you can make up from this selection: for more (not-so-exciting) information go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CMYK_color_model)

You'll also want to check beforehand with the printer you planning on using if they have any certain requirements, mine needs to have a colour profile of FOGRA39, i'm not a designer so don't have a whole heap of information regarding them, or what they do, but it basically means that your using the right colours that the printer can print, saves you from being bitten in the ass when your business cards come back all dis-coloured and you haven't had a proof before hand.

(CMYK and the Color profile can usually be set up in your image package, they're definately in Illustrator)

Looks great.

Very good idea to include "computer repair". I see technicians everywhere using some obscure name and the customer has no idea what they do.

Looks good. Only suggestion I might make is to drop the italic on "Repair" so "ComputerRepair" mirrors the style of "TechForce"

Nice logo, but agree with the above. The colours and sheild icon look very much like a lot of the fake anti-virus programs.

First off, thanks for the feedback all! it is much appreciated!


thats kinda what i was going for, a spoof of a security shield, a-la win antivirus / xp antivirus / 2008/2009...etc.. etc...

couldn't find one quite like that one at the time (the one in the logo was drawn in illustrator and then coloured in standard xp style theme of colours)

the aim was for it to be recognisable with some problems, and has a windows style theme/feel to it. but i obviously don't want to just blatently rip off someone else style of logo, would no doubt land myself in hot water!

Any suggestions guys? i'll have a bit more of a play around later, see if i can't incorporate the name into the shield, and change the likeness enough to keep me on stable ground, and then maybe start over and try something different.

Actually the shield is kind of a little too much, I like the name and the font though.

I have to agree with the general consensus here about the shield. Do you really want the logo of your business to be associated with something negative (a windows virus)?
