Clean nuke and pave to win 10, it hangs during the install both times, I have to shut it down and restart, installation completes but doing a restart or putting it to sleep causes a black screen with loud fan, have to completely shut it down, it starts fine from complete shutdown. somethings hanging obviously. Normally this is a no-brainer, I went through the usual:
  • another clean install a with new usb win 10 1909.
  • uninstall video drivers, update drivers,
  • check for bios/other updates, none
  • checked the disk for errors, none
  • boot into safe mode which locks up on "shutting down" on screen
any other ideas?

What year is the current bios? Seems the system is from the Win 7 days and the most current bios is from 06 Dec 2011.
It might be time for something newer.
Yeah, its pretty dang old, I just tried to reflash the bios and it blue screened, luckily it came back up.

Before you give up. Run snappy driver on it. Be sure to update snappy driver first, I just got an update last night.

yeah I did that too, it installed a ton but didn't change the power issues, now the only way to shut it down is by holding the power button down, shame cuz it runs great otherwise, I'll give her the option of rolling back to 7 or keeping it the way it is. Since it locked up during install twice I'm guessing its a bios issue.
