Laptop will not connect to one website, others fine.

@madmark - yup time and date are good, so assuming CMOS battery is fully functional.

Got my Ubuntu CD ready and Ill report back early tomorrow if it is connectable with it. Also peeking at the Hosts file. Thanks for all the help.

Bob -

The reason I suggested a different adapter was that the settings/configuration for that adapter would be different, including DNS settings peculiar to the nic. Just a troubleshooting step to help "box in" the problem. Either way, it tightens the noose.

@FremontPC - I do agree that eliminating the adapter would be ideal, but the router/modem is one of the new Verizon MiFi type adapters. It has no connectable ports and only operates wirelessly, limiting my adapter choices.

A new development has come to light, no PC in the house can connect to the ncsbank website. I was told that the desktop would, but upon actual testing, it wouldn't either. The desktop would work back at their previous home, I remember seeing it work there. So now I'm thinking that it is Verizon's issue and not a local or PC problem as two PCs cannot reach that website.

I did find a way "around" the issue. The only reason the customer needs to get to ncsbank.com is to click on the Online Banking link. If I type the URL for it in, that website will come up so they don't really ever need to access the ncsbank website after all. Being still interested if it is Verizon's fault, I'm going to connect to the MiFi with my phone and see if it also cannot connect to ncsbank as it could through my Cell 3G service.

Thanks for all of the help, I have another call to go out and upgrade RAM in the Desktop and will test with my phone to see if it does what's expected.

My phone is on verizon. It will not connect to the site. Error 101 the connection was reset.

scratch that. Appears to be an issue with google chrome on the phone. Dolphin connects just fine.

My phone is on Verizon and I just got the bank's website to load on my phone. I have a Galaxy Nexus which is LTE but I didn't have LTE when I tried accessing, it loaded on 3G.

Sorry, thought I had updated this thread. It appears to be the Mifi and its servers as no device connected to it will correctly access that particular address. Waiting on a response from Verizon as they started a case into it.

Try setting the DNS on the laptop to 8.8.8.8 and see if it works.

I have been bypassing a lot of ISP DNS servers lately due to these kind of issues.

@daverichards - yea, that is going to be the only "real" way to do it. I just wanted Verizon to be aware and hopefully make some tweaks on there end.

Thanks all!
