How do you deal with laptop screen replacement? do you keep a inventory of screens? also do you have to buy the screen by laptop make and model or can you buy it by the screen size?

We order them as needed, usually takes 2 days to come in. I haven't had anyone complain about the wait.

We order them based on the model number of the screen itself. You have to disassemble the screen and look on the back of the LCD.

I buy from laptopscreen.com

Charge flat rate of 250 including part. Sometimes I make more sometimes I make less.

Client drops pc off I check it and order by model number of laptop. Comes in two days later and install it.

I keep a stock of 15.6 LED generics - most laptop screen replacements these days

For anything outside of that I have a supplier that does overnight delivery so that I have the part the next working day.

.

I also order from laptopscreen.com

They go by make/model# of the laptop... usually there are a few different screen options for you to choose from. (glossy, matte, CCFL, LED) There have been one or two occasions where I had to pull the original screen to confirm I was ordering the correct one, but that's fairly rare.

I usually charge $87.50 plus parts/shipping (with a markup), and come in just lower than the competition... and in half the time. :cool:

I have a small stock of 15.6" screens and some odd size ones also.

In the UK I get mine from TJ Inspriations next day free delivery and excellent service

do you have to buy the screen by part number or can you buy it by size?

Part number. There are too many variables to just grab on on size:

* Backlight type (CCFL (one (most common) or two bulb) or LED)
* Resolution of screen (1366x768, 1600x900, etc)
* Aspect ratio (16:9 16:10, not too much of an issue since they are making them different sizes: 15.6 vs 15.4)
* Type of connector (different number of pins, different sizes)
* Position of connector (left, right, top, bottom (had a 14" screen laying around I wanted to put in a dell, it barely works only because of the video cable being a SOLID board! shaped to go exactly where they want it)
* Built in mounting, or inverter bracket
* Glossy or Matte?
I think those are all the highlights

I take the screen out and order from the model #. Normally a sticker that says the exact number to order. I then just use eBay. Many great sellers and comes in within a few days.
