I apologise if there's already a thread related to this but I couldn't find anything within any searches.

I'm after recommendations on a laptop tool kit (i.e. screwdrivers, spludges, prying tools etc). I have many tools I've collected and some I've purchased. The ones I've purchased always seem to fail very quickly. Any help with this would be great!

There are a few nice kits on newegg.com I got my screwdrivers from Home Depot for 5 bucks. It was on sale from 20.00 it has 25 tips and is great.

I have not bought any one kit though. I have found I see something I like I buy it. For prying I have a tool that my father in law gave me. I will get some pics of it.

Thanks I'll have a look!

I found a perfect kit of screwdrivers a Lowes. Precision screwdriver kit, it has T7 T8 T9, 4 different flatheads, PH1, PH0, PH00 and in a soft case with a zipper. It was $9.99 and I use a heavy guitar pick to separate and pry plastic parts or an old credit card cut in two.

Also a soft and clean anti static mat....customers don't like scratches on their lids.

As far as other stuff goes, I use little ziploc Jewelers bags for screws, and different size anti static bags for components.

Just to help next time. If you want to search the forums, I find goggling something like, "computer repair tool kit technibble forums " will take you to the posts about that topic. It makes it a lot faster to find what your looking for. Have fun!

I use a precision screwdriver set. Get the 5 or bigger sets of screwdrivers you can get them from Lowes, Homedepot, Sears etc. Don't get the cheap ones with little handles. Also Homedepot have a screwdriver bit set for like $5 its great to have also. Also a mat of some kind and should be good to go.

I like these small Husky units (phillips/slotted):

and these (torc): http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...talogId=10053&productId=100087664&R=100087664

I have other kits but these take up so little space that I seem to always have this handy. For about $6.00 at Home Depot you can't go wrong. I see on Amazon they want about $11.00 USD

I also went to autozone and picked up one of those nuts/bolts magnetic trays. This helps keep screws together, and in the event you bump it/drop it on accident, all the screws will still be there.

I use similar screw drivers, I actually bought for like 25 bucks from tigerdirect a rechargable low torgue electric screwdriver, which is made for electronics like these. It will save you SO much time when screwing/unscrewing, plus your hands dont tire as easy too!

Good luck and welcome to the forums
