I work as a repair tech in a school district and have noticed a pattern with our Latitude e6410 laptops. Being a school district, we have several of them, over 300 just in the elementary alone. The recurring problem is with the keyboards. I have now gotten several repair tickets about certain keys that stop working, it's always random keys and it's never the whole keyboard that quits working. A simple reseat of the keyboard seems to work but I've noticed a few of the machines are repeat offenders. It's a quick and easy fix, however, "quick" is a relative statement. If I happen to be in the middle of something and can't make it right over to fix it, a teacher is down a laptop and it can be rather annoying.
These keyboards make the connection right above the track pad and I assume it's just gotten dirty or something and it can't make a good connection every now and then. Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have any good suggestions for cleaning those connectors? I definitely do not have the time or resources to go around cleaning all of the laptops but I would like to do so every time I have to reseat the keyboards. Touching the same machine more than once for such a simple, annoying problem wastes my time that I could be spending on bigger issues.
