ok heres the story. I've been battling over the last couple days to get my computer back up and running. It started with a serious virus, spyware-cyberlog. I did some research over the web to figure out how to get rid of it. Tried pretty much every antispyware/antivirus software know to man, including the highly recommended smitfraud to get rid of it. Nothing worked so I went on to make backups of all my files. Took 2 days at the rate of 3-4 hours for one dvd (computer is not amazing but does have 2gigs of ram and a 2 year old but decent amd processor). I then went on to using the HP recovery tools which was done in a couple hours and the computer was back up and running great. However that lasted also a couple hours until I installed microsoft service pack 3 from their windows updates website. After the installation, it asked for a reboot and thats all it's been doing since then. Right after a few seconds of loading on the windows logo bar, it reboots. safe mode works fine though but I have no clue as to how to red of that reboot. I unticked the autorestart option in my computer properties but that only gives me a blue screen with a bunch of technical info numbers and letters. This is driving me crazy, can anyone help me out?

If you can't boot into safe mode to apply the fix mentioned above, try a linux based boot CD or something like ERD commander and disable the auto reboot on error setting. Then apply the fix.

In this particular situation I would just start over, use the hp recovery tools, the vbs file, and sp3 (in that order). Not much lost if you're doing a fresh install anyway.

Can you tell us what the error codes you are gettin on the BSOD this will give us a better idea as to what the problem is. I wouldn't go re-installing windows yet.
