I received an email from someone earlier today about Google Places optimization and they mentioned something about my site having concerning Google violations.

...you
even have some concerning Google violations that could cause your listing to be rejected.

Could anyone check it out for me? I checked my site against the webmaster guidelines and was unable to find any violations, but I may be looking from the wrong angle.

Thank you!

First, the wording of your quoted email suggests one of those scam "I can make you #1 on Google" emails. Was the email from Google? As in blahblah@google.com? If it's not straight from the horse's mouth, I wouldn't give it any thought. A quick scan of your homepage text and meta tags reveal nothing bad as far as I can tell. If Google were to put your page in violation, I'd think they'd have to do it for the entire internet.

google doesnt ban websites. what they do if you violate seo rules is that they won;t rank you or show you in their searches. but idk i maybe wroong

Hi VitalGeek,

First thing I checked was whether you had affiliate links, which your site had none of. So, yes, it may very well be a "scareware" marketing tactic.

Funny how often fear is used as a marketing tool nowadays!
