I have ordered an HP server from my vendor mid January, still waiting on the drives due to an SSD shortage. Anyone heard of this?

I saw a post in a FB tech group.....just yesterday I think. And then today we go and order up a few dozen Crucials from Crucial...and the price went up like 15 bucks per 525 gigger. ACK! So guessing there's something going on.

Prices have been gradually rising since the beginning of the year. I got a great deal on Cyber Monday when I bought a couple, but I been checking ever since then and no real deals.

I'd specced out a server on Dell with some high-write SSDs and when I went back to it estimated ship had gone from 2-3 days to 55-60. Pulled those out, back to normal.

Well this was for a CPA and the Jan through Apr isn't a good time to install a new system anyway. The delay shouldn't be that bad if they arrive shortly.

I received an email today from a vendor:

Due to the continued supply constraints that are expected to continue through the foreseeable future, Samsung is implementing a price increase on the 850 EVO and 850 PRO series. This 10-12 % price increase is effective as of April 2nd, 2017.

I have just gotten in a few WD SSD drives that were at a good price to try out. The "Magician" type WD software is okay but irks me that it prompts to run at boot instead of just loading. Hopefully something they get resolved as I do like a monitor running in the background.

Here in Vancouver some suppliers have thousands of drives but are forced by OEM's to direct them to specific clients, so drives are "reserved" and cannot be ordered.

This really, really sucks. I'm going to buy more SSD's as they just went up in price AGAIN! Some more DDR3 memory would be nice too. I can get the TL100 OCZ's for $70 from Microcenter. These drives frankly suck, but at that price I would be willing to buy them just as an investment. Anyone know where to get the 850 EVO's for less than $90 wholesale now? They're pretty much the only thing I want to put into systems these days.

Speaking of prices - I see Office 2016 home and Student is up $35 and Home and Business went up $55 on Amazon.

Ugh. My favorite SSD (Sandisk) on Amazon is in short supply and went from $75 to $89 or even $95. Back to Crucial MX300s if they're going to be $95.

I did a quote a few months ago to upgrade some HDDs at a school system to SSDs.....and that price was of course based on the lower cost back then. She OK'd it just 2 weeks ago....and how that the prices did an unpredicted sky jack the cost of my good usual Crucials is now higher than was I was selling 'em for.

I searched the inventory at Ingram, and they had WD Blue SSDs...which are actually the higher model SanDisks inside since WD bought Sandisk, (not the WD Green SSDs which are the lower model SanDisks). Low price...so I snagged a bunch there.
