I am considering purchasing a wireless charger to be used in my office for my IPhone 11.

The phone is always protected by a Pitaka case that is 2.5 mm thick.
There is also a thin magnet between the back of the phone and the case.
This setup is attached to a magnetized mount in my car and works very well.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience with a wireless charger that I could use in my office that will work properly (and efficiently) considering the magnet and case?

Thank you in advance.

Maybe check with the maker of the case. Sounds doubtful that it would work. I did use an iPhone 11 and a wireless charger. I used an Apple leather case and used a magnetic mount. But the magnet was on the mount. A thin metal disk was between the case and the phone which allowed magnet mount to work.

Now I've got an iPhone 13. It has Magsafe. Normal case and nothing in between and it mounts in my car nicely. There's also a ton of magnet ic / Magsafe chargers on the market too. iPhone 12 was the first to use Magsafe.

My apologies. I misspoke!
Yes, the car mount itself is magnetized. The thin metal disk between the case and the phone is not magnetized.

  • Through-Case Charging: Don't fumble with your phone case. PowerWave charges directly through protective cases up to 5 mm thick (not including cases with magnetic or metal attachments).
Should I interpret the above to mean that the charger is not compatible with my 'metal attachments'?

I do not know very much about wireless charging technology for IPhones.
From the limited Googling that I just performed, the answer appears to be 'no' that you can not charge an IPhone face down on a charging pad.
Or, am I missing some detail?

For the price of that charger it might be worth testing if it works with the metal on yours since you are at half the max thickness

I would think it should work with what ever charger you already have.
If you expand the fourth photo on the link above, it specifies that certain charger specs work and some do not.
I currently have 3 adapters.
The two where I can read the specs are 5v (not to be used).
I cannot read the specs (of course) on the third which is the one that I currently use .

Wireless chargers use induction charging and metal like a disk is going to interfere with this because…physics. It’s why maglock was invented so that a standard method of laying down the magnets and the charging coils so that they didn’t interfere with each other. Unless it’s a maglock you can have either the metal mount plate or the charger not both.

Yeah looks like the basic included apple charger isn't compatible good catch.

The new case that I just bought has some interesting benefits / features that I discovered after rtfm:
  • 【Wireless Charging Friendly】Special design of embedded metal plates inside, makes you could use PITAKA magnetic wireless charging car mount (Only work with PITAKA MagEZ Mount Series) freely without sticking adhesive metal plate on your device. Just Put and Charge, offering you with a safer and more effective wireless charging experience. No interference to your wireless charging, WIFI, GPS or your signals.
I tried the case without the magnetic plates and yes indeed, it does 'stick' to my WizGear car mount!
I have not tried this yet when driving over potholes and other large bumps in the road.
According to the above, the case is supposed to be wireless charger friendly.
This is supposed to arrive tomorrow and I will try it with one of my existing standard (5 V) Apple block adapters.
I will post results as to whether that combo charges (slowly) or not at all and then move forward (hopefully).
