Ipad, very short wifi range

A client just asked me about her (personal) ipad. Says both at home and the office, it has a very short range on wifi, 25' line of sight, not at all thru walls. Ipad was new 6 months ago. She sent in to apple, they tested, and say there is no problem (but, they were liable to be in the same room as their access point.)

Used to work ok...and never had any service done (like a screen replacement).

Any ideas?

Oh ok...... The usual ;)

Check the iPad for a firmware upgrade.

Then
Target the router.

Temporarily disable the security and try it again.

Check neighbouring wifi to see if there is channel congestion.

Also try downgrading the wifi protocol from N (I assume you are using it), down to G.

Try / borrow another iPad and test reception.

Is the iPad in a case ? If so then try without it.

Regards

No idea, I have one and it works fine. You could try resetting the network settings.

Go to Settings - General - Reset network settings

She probably has a 10 year old, crappy wireless G router - I'll bet you lunch.

Get her either a brand-new Netgear AC router or Apple Airport Extreme. Problem solved.

I have one of those (crappy old wireless) and my iPad works fine. Router is upstairs and I usually use the ipad downstairs thru walls, floors and all.

Great, doesn't mean it isn't causing a problem in this particular situation.

Current on firmware/ios
No case
Tried reset network settings
Don't know about her home router
Office is a TZ170 wireless
Also have linksys AP in warehouse
Tried those 2, plus my mifi router.
About 25' was the best i got
My tablet has coverage throughout the facility.

Make sure she has it backed up, do a restore using the DFU method. If issue persists, take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider with a technician you can actually speak to.
