Hello, I've got a very simple system setup working beautifully for years (specs at bottom for trouble shooting).
One thing that has never been great is that all the USB sockets aren't particularly reliable.
My USB mouse works 99.9% of the time, with the occasional 1 second cut-out maybe once a day, USB memory sticks read/write fine.
However when I connect my USB harddrive (500GB) it squeaks at me and is unable to spin up fully. It is fine in my other (non-identical) computers and laptop.
My USB Bluetooth Headset needs the USB lead plugged in to get a steady non-crackly signal for Audio Conversation. Again this device works flawlessly (wirelessly) on my other computers and laptop.
I suspect a power issue but with very little hardware and the system running fine apart from this it's not really been a use stopper, however I'm looking to augment my habits with some USB devices and fixing the issue is now needed. So how would I go about fixing this issue?
Specs:
TOSHIBA 256 GB SSD
DVD-RW / CD-RW Optical Drive
Radeon HD 6670 Graphics Card (2GB)
AMD Athlon II X4 640 (4x 3GHz)
DDR3 2x 4GB Ram
ASRock N68C-GS FX Motherboard
500 Watt PSU
System temps are usually 30-40°C Under load it might spike to 50°C. Runs with a very gentle hum from all 3 fans.
