AKA, the 8MB bug. Has anyone come across a drive with this issue? I've done quite a bit of research, and it seems like the customer has no choice but to wipe the drive and lose the data. Has anyone found a way to restore one of these drives, or can anyone recommend a recovery shop that can bring it back to life?

I told the customer a number of times to invest in Carbonite, however he never did, so he is highly motivated to get the data off of this drive back.

Just FYI... we are now able to recover data from this firmware bug on Intel 320 series SSDs ($300 if we get back data you want, no charge if not).

The most it should take us is a couple days (all we've done so far have only taken 1 day to repair/move data). Do you not have the latest PC3000 SSD update that makes PIO transfer speeds much faster?

I've got the latest and greatest....been doing these drives for almost 2 years. But, perhaps the latest update has improved things. That said, I guess I'd be willing to give it a try for our level 1 hard drive price of $280CAD ($350 less 20%)...just be sure to mention that you were referred by Technibble.

Out of curiosity Brian, why aren't you charging more SSD seeing that the cost to add SSD to PC3K is more than it was for the update to handle WD encryption?

Just because we want to keep "extra fees" to a minimum. We've had all the same "extra" fees for years (encryption, over 2tb, usb pcbs) and at this point, don't want to add more (even though we couldn't solve SSD firmware issues like this when we started). Also, SSD recoveries have been pretty quick and easy to work with (so far). We have two pc3k expresses (8 PC3K express ports) and 2 UDMA-E ports, so we don't really mind if some of these did take a bit longer than usual.
