Doing an update on a windows 7 64bit pro install I found that I cannot upgrade IE 8 to 11. I am experiencing problems with a update that will not install This update says "Not for your system". So, I ran the Windows Update readyness tool and this is the log errors that I have:

This system is already in clients office and they do their quickbooks on it along with some other software. I have tried installing the KB2952664 update and it balks and says its not for your system. When I do a update to install IE 11 I get the error code 9c57.

The only options I can think of are a repair reinstall or a roll back. This will involve alot more work Iam afraid in reinstalling a bunch of software all over again.

Any suggestions to resolve this issue? Has anyone ran into this before? I need to get this upgraded to IE 11 as soon as possible as quickbooks complains to client about outdated IE 8.

Maybe uninstall ie8 http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/2734/uninstall-disable-delete-internet-explorer-8-from-windows-7/

Then download and install ie11. I have the link somewhere.
Thats a thought I had. However, Should I not be able to re-install IE version X then Their quickbooks probably will not work and I will find myself in deeper doo-doo.

But that is a good idea. I might try that and then install IE9 to see if it fixes problems and then upgrade to 11 from there.

Might be a good idea to clone the drive and make your changes on the clone, if you are worried about breaking some functionality.

Just want to close this out. What I ended up doing was a repair re-install on the computer. This pretty much took care of the upgrade to IE11 error and actually a USB speed issue. :)

Then the customer asked me to install MSOffice (illegal copy) to the computer. lol, I said no and left.

It sucks that a lot of shady shops and pizza techs have been putting some version of office on computers for so long people just think all computers come with office automatically "free".

You could have installed either LibreOffice or OpenOffice in its' place. But I like your reply best. :)

I normally do. However they needed MSOffice for there work. I just get a very uneasy feeling when I have a service call there. I dont know. Nothing I can pin down but something just not right. But that we save for another thread sometime.

Thanks for the reply,
