ID Badges

Do any of you self employed wear an ID badge while out on service calls? What about in the shop? If you do wear one, did you print your own and laminate it or did you have it made for you? I was thinking of making one for service calls and I just wanted some input.

I wear a top with my logo on. I have four of them(2 grey and 2 white) and just slip a clean one on if I go out to a call. Mine is embroidered.

I have embroidered shirts too. Some polos and some collared. I always wear them whether I'm onsite or in the shop.

My partners and I have talked about this, I think we all agreed to do it. I do know a local guy who will print them for us for cheap. I think its a great idea, it makes you look more official in my opinion. I dont know about where you live some people here in Las Vegas are more afraid to open the door then others unless they see some official stuff like IDs, Shirts, etc.

The guy is charging me $2 a badge, so they are cheap.

That's not a bad price. I need to see if there is anywhere online that can make me one. I've worked for cable companies in the past and I know how people can be when wanting ID.

I don't waer a badge, but I know a couple of guys that do. They look nice. I had my logo embroidered on some shirts (like other members here) and they look very nice. I haven't had it done on my new shirts though (been too busy to bring them to the embroidery place).

Hey NT, long time no hear and see-

I have teeshirts made up with my logo and business on it and I wear them all time, while I'm out doing other things to advertise and also when I'm visiting customers. If you don't have shirts made up, wearing a ID badge could be something additional you can do. If I were you, I'd definitely look into getting some shirts made up.

Yes it definitely makes you look more professional and also gives a bit more security to the person you're visiting. I just got back from a call to a farm cottage with a female on her own. I could see she was a little unsure but as time went on the professionalism shone through. All my paperwork has logos on it and everything is documented and receipted. A logo on my shirt. At the end she has another two laptops to do and her neighbour also wants me to look at her computer soon. It more than paid for my extra clothing costs. There are people cheaper but you can see from their adverts they are part time. I do this for a living so I have to do the best I can.

I use embroidered polo shirts too! I actually share a suite with an embroidery/ screenprinting shop and I am designing an embroidery website as I write this!

If anyone has purchased these online, I would love to see their website! Of course I've seen many from the all knowing Google too....

This guy does left breast embroidery on polos for $7!

I got mine from http://www.clothes2order.com/

I got two white polo shirts and two grey sweatshirts with a coloured embroidered logo. Very nice quality Fruit of the Loom brand. I think the total order was £71 which included postage and there was a fee to upload the logo for the first time which subsequently can be used with no charge afterwards. They send you a low res pic of it which makes you think the final quality won't be good but it was an excellent job done.

My polo shirts have my logo on the left side, above where a pocket would be, and I made them with iron-on ink jet transfers.

I tried it on an old tee shirt originally just as an experiment, not expecting much, but I found they look great.
