So my Aunt calls me up telling me that everytime she starts up microsoft word it's very slow. I have logmein setup on her computer. I connect to her remotely and its taking a very long time. As I'm doing this she says okay click on Microsoft Outlook (She called me for word I guess she does not realize there is a difference). So it opens up and it's downloading 15 messages of which it's realllly slow receiving anything. It's on 45 k of 512k Total for all messages. So I figure okay.. I just have to have them restart their dsl modem.
I ask her to pull the thin black wire out of her 2 wire dsl modem. She tells my uncle to do it. I ask them okay did you do it? She says yes he did it. I said okay plug it back in. He says okay yeah it went from red to green or something. I asked are all the lights on? He said yes. Then he tells me, it says WELCOME! I'm like OMG.. I said pull out the -thin- black wire out of the MODEM. He ends up pulling out the thick black wire out of the computer. Now I tell him look pull the thin black wire out of the modem. He says okay just a sec.. then tells me he just pulled out the YELLOW wire out of the middle of the modem.. I'm like OMG... I ask him to reconnect it and he says how?? I tell him.. just snap it in like a telephone wire into a jack..... He does it.. now I manage to reconnect (slowly still) and I login to the modems page and restart it manually..
mann I tell you anybody else goes through this frustration with their family sometimes?? arghrhrhrhrhr
