I think I messed up.....

Better slogan.

"Don't call a geek....Call the PROs."

Agree with this. If you are going to use the "geek", this would be the way to go.

My problem with the 'geek' angle has always been that it sounds elitist. When we were coming up with tag lines, I refused to use the 'geek'. However, in our area, the 'geek' line is played by almost all of the repair companies (including our biggest competitor). That may be why I have such a strong reaction. :)

We always thought the Geek word didn't sound elitist lol. Thats why we have it like that in our tagline. We think 'pro' sounds more elitist.

Geek has been waaaay overplayed. thats why we kind of 'poke fun' of it in our tagline.

Yeah, I get the tongue-in-cheek use. I just wonder if the average customer will "get it." Sure, to those tech-savvy it's cute and funny, but to Grandma Sue down the street...

Anyway, you're logo is fine as is. If it isn't cost effective to change it, I would leave it .

Yes Geek is way over played, used and abused. I wish the term would just go away a silent death. For someone to call yourself a geek is not elitist but to call yourself a pro and poke fun of someone else calling them a geek (even if their name is geek) is elitist. It looks like your bullying. I do not think it helps you. I believe it hurts you more than it helps.

geek

Got carried away with the elitist stuff I guess lol. What our slogan really meant (to us) is:

- There are LOTS of 'geeks' around, geek squad, geeks on call etc.
Lots of people either know of them are know the term 'computer geek'.
Our angle is what about 'computer pro'? If all those 'geeks' out there can't fix it... call a pro!...

But also meaning (in a subliminal kind of way lol) if your tired of all the neighbor kids, friends of the family, uncle charlie etc...trying to fix your system and its never done right...... then its time to call a professional.

So right now.... it kind of plays off Geek Squad and all the other 'Geek' theme companies that are so popular, but also it means any 'geeky' kid who thinks they can fix your computer just because they are 'geeky'. Poking fun is kind of done in a subliminal way also. The tagline really doesn't say 'they suck' or anything like that. It just casually says basically if the Geek can't fix it.....call us type of thing. Which is akin to me being a Porche salesman and having a conversion with you while your mentioning being interested in buying a 'sporty ford focus'. Then I say "If you want a real sports car, give me a call" It makes no direct mention that the ford isn't any good and ours are better, but it does give a subliminal suggestion to it.

The only issue that we have is so far we have hundreds of customers that have remarked on the slogan. Saying its either funny, saying well... GS couldn't fix it so now I'm here lol, but they always laugh and remember it. So it does what a slogan is supposed to do. Provide top of mind awareness. The only negatives we EVER heard about it was from other techs on this forum lol. Not to say either is wrong. Believe me, we are thankful for all the honest input! I just wish we would be decisively pushed in one direction. Meaning this forum says its dumb and then customers say it stinks (which some of our clients would lol), but so far they all love it. Which makes our decision harder.

I understand and many people prefer something a bit cute. I prefer more direct.

I think what you really want to say is "Fixed Right first time, every time" or "Fixed Right, Fixed Right now" something like that. If they have been injured or ****** off by GS then that will mean a lot to them.

Its probably moot point and more about personal preference but when you say it exactly correctly in plain English its hard for people to mis-conscrew the message. But most probably understand your intentions anyway.

I prefer to just tell them "I'm the best damn tech in town." so to speak. If you are that good and back it up, then do not worry about being modest.

If there is one thing no one has any tolerance for in IT is having to take a 2nd afternoon or lunch time to take the computer back to get it fixed the way it should have been the first time they took it in. I play on that fear. What we really do is save people time and hassle. I try to say that as directly as possible.

I agree with most of this. My only criticism is that like others it implies that you are the second place to call only if Geek Squad can't fix it. You want to make them question even going someplace else.

Another example.

Why call a geek when you can call a PRO?

To me that says what you want to say more directly.

It sounds to me like the slogan is working, given what you have said in your posts.

So that said I would either

A - leave it as it is
or
B - Use "Don't call a geek... Call a pro!"

Yes, I agree...OR...change the font to italic.

Also forgot to mention, the logo looks nice...I like it...AND THANK YOU FOR NOT USING THE WORD SOLUTIONS IN ANY PART OF YOUR NAME OR LOGO...hahaha.....

<rant>
Every store front, and computer name on the Planet Earth has the word SOLUTIONS in there somewhere............and every time I see it, I think of some fluid thing....chicken soup.....soap....radiator fluid....seriously....enough already with that word....

Been my slogan for a couple of years now... actually suggested by one of my customers.
