Hello everybody

it has been 18 months and finally i am making money as a onsite technician. i am going to share all my experience here. Some of you will be disagreeing what i wrote here and some of you will have my advices.

before i start English is my second language and i am sorry about my English.

i have done %90 of marketing tactics what's written in this forum and all over the internet. I will only list some i can remember, some worth to mention and some wasting time

i have 3 websites and 100 pages in total. Every page specially SEO Optimised for over 25 towns 100 villages and 3 city circles my location. for each website i spend over 1 year for SEO. i build all my pages

Read 3 books, over 1000 pages article, blog ect. i am using IBP internet business promoter and website auditor cost me $600 total. i also use several free software's.

I submitted my 3 x websites over 1000 free classifieds (NOT DIRECTORIES) website both uk also (usa diectories for seo purposes)


I have also submitted over 5000 directories all over the world (list is too long i will not listed here) WEST OF TIME!!!!!!!!! NOT RECOMMENDED ( ONLY GOOD FOR SEO)

I pay $300 per year yahoo dir. and $300 one time payment to BOWD for seo purpose only also listed on DMOZ (GOOD FOR SEO & RECOMMENDED FOR SEO)

Finally i have 1 website PR1 Second one PR2 and the third page PR 4

Now i am getting over %70 of my jobs from Google, yahoo, bing

YELLOW PAGES AND THOMPSON LOCAL

Spend $2000 per year full colour advert iv got my money back and build over 30 new customer. Recommended!!


YELLOW PAGES ON INTERNET (YELL.COM)

Spend $2000 per year iv got my money back and over 70 new customer. Recommended!! ( also strong back link for website ranking )

GOOGLE PPC AND YAHOO PPC

Google is ok but even that my campaign was set %100 i only had 5-6 customer in 1 year and spend over $200 NOT RECOMMENDED

Yahoo NO customer 5 months and stopped NOT RECOMMENDED

FLIERS, LEAFLETS

Distributed well over 60000 and only had 20 customers NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TRUSTED TRADER MEMBERSHIP RECOMMENDED

With in business:

No call out fee = recommended

no fix no fee = MUST

Word of mouth = BEST + MUST+ FREE!!!!!!

No hourly rates = STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT I AM PAYING FOR MARKETING BUDGET THIS YEAR?

ON GOING SEO $1000 submitions, link building, ect. Make sure all my sites dominates the search engines

YELL.COM $2000

YELLOW PAGES $1500

THOMPSON LOCAL $700

YAHOO DIR. $300

I am making what i was dreaming 18 months ago and i am very happy. i wish you all good luck and i hope you have money to spend for this business or it will take a lot harder to get where you want to be. i am making a lot more than what i spend and i recomend you guys same

I've got a choice of 3 books here. Verizon, Yellow Book, Haines. I'm in a rural area. Verizon is expensive, cheaper for the local edition, but their local edition yellow pages is too small to read. Yellow Book, not sure about them, seem expensive. Haines seems to be prevalent in the area, but you never can tell... Just don't know which to go with

Of course, they all have their own deadlines and distribution times, which makes it even harder to choose. Can't afford a large ad no matter which I go with, probably only a 1/2" to 1" or so. Was looking to start with just one book for now.

have a look at what your section's advert looks like and make yours completely different

ie mine is white bold text on a purple background

sod the corporate image thing, if no-one sees your ad because it blurs in with all the others then what's the point?

Sorry my bad. I forgot to mention. no call out fee but diagnostic is not free. It is a litle trick realy. Trying to get custumer think end of the day atleast hes paying for something. and if i can not pinpoint the problem they dont have to pay.

Call it what you will, bench/handling/diagnostic fee. It's a small fee but I'm not looking at something for completely free.

I agree with what you are saying about not doing anything free. part from no fix still fee. in my opininion this is not doing anything worth to charge for the custumer even that you spend time & effort, you give notthing valuable to the custumer. Thanx for your opinion anyway.

In uk we have to main books; Yellow pages & Thompson local. whats got my attention is since last year books got half of the size they where. this indicates me majority of the business moving in to internet advertising. in our case pc technicians will be the one of the last business will be leaiving the sinking ship (books) since when persons computer break down they can not online search. unless they have secondary internet acces

Fair play to you, you've done a lot of work and invested a lot of money into your business marketing. You've taken the time to appraise what you've done and you give honest feedback on how it's worked for you. It's great that things are working for you, you've certainly done the legwork.

2) Let's say it's a failed disk and you give them a quote for repair and they refuse and say "i'll just buy a new PC!"

I don't deliver for free. That is a big chunck of my time that can be wasted. If they want, they can come pick it from me for free but if they want it delievered, they have to pay.

This is all very valuable information. I appreciate that you have taken the time to share the results of your clearly extensive work. What I see here is similar to the approach I'm working on. It's taking a very long time, but I'm confident that it will pay off in the end. It's reassuring to hear that it is working out for you.

You could say that the no-fix no-fee only applies if the company is technically unable to fix/resolve the issue, not due to an unwillingness of the customer to pay for the fix/repair

In which case the no-fix no-fee never actually kicks in.

So, no-fix no-fee really counts for not very much at all!
