molly 4 agilidogz 130914.jpg I am so proud to announce that my gorgeous 4 legged pal (Molly) and myself will be representing England in the PAWC paragility wheelchair championships this year in August.

Molly really tries her best for me with every run she does.

to be a part of such a magnificent symbolic agility for all group which encompasses handlers of all disabilities is just out of this world!.

a total dream come true.

congratulations to all my fellow team mates and everyone in the IMCA team.

Please post details if the event will be streamed anywhere - I'd love to see it!

Edit: I see there is a Livestream link on their home page, so hopefully they'll do just that.

Seriously, congratulations Nige. I'm know both of you must have been working very hard towards this. Having that pay off like this makes it worth it all. Where's the event at?

normally the handlers leg it as fast (if possible )as their dog around a course.

that' normal agility.

pawc agility is handlers who are disabled in some shape or fashion. who use alternative means of getting their dog around a course.

there's members of the team who are registered blind.

some are amputees.

some in normal wheelchairs, some in motorised wheelchair or motorised scooters.

myself and i know of 1 other handler, use what' called distance handling / control.

ie we set our dog up at the start. depending on the course I can stand in the centre of it, and literally direct Molly from it. with verbal and or body movements.

rather like you see sheep dog trials.

ie go, go, left (she turns left) weave ( she will do 12 weaves correctly) right (turns right) walk on (dog walk (3 x 12' planks where she has to touch the contact points) go, far tunnel ( U shaped tunnel and I want her to enter the far end of it) that type of thing.

it's much harder to train as you need to trust your dog to do its job correctly. and it doesn't always work out. but when it does it' poetry in motion.

On a separate note, why do you have multiple accounts? Just because your the admin does not mean you can circumvent the rules. :p

Wow. training. When she's finished with the course, do you tell her "That'll do, dog." ? I'd think that would be mandatory, haha.

Lol. When shes finished the course, she knows, as there is usually her box at the gate where we come out. She literally stands on it, and waits for me to catch up to her. (Doing this raises her off the floor, so that I do not have to bend to put her lead on.) Then we have a game of tug. (Best thing since sliced bread for her).

Same thing happens at the start. Box is placed on the floor. She goes on it, which raises her off the floor for me to remove her lead. She steps off the box, and waits for me to tell her to do something else.

BUT. Should she see her box being moved before we have started the 'run', or see's it before we have finished the 'run', then shes straight to the bloody thing!.

So timing is basically critical there lol. Trust me, when I say, this has happened so many times before.

I am soooo excited for both you and Molly, Nige.
I wish that I could go to the championships to cheer both of you on and forward.
