Got two of them this morning at my local WalMart... pretty sure they are sold out in most of the box stores by now, but it looks like Staples might still have some available. Apparently BestBuy have shipped tons of them back to HP as have some other retailers. I expect them to be on sale next week via the HP site.

I would have never spent full price for one of these or even half, but for 25% of the retail it's hard to resist. PCRT works great in touch screen mode via the browser by the way :-)

and of course with any big news story Hitler has something to say about it ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaeOXyA7wo0

Unless I can load android or something else on it, it's still not worth the price. Smaller screen, lower resolution, and the HP branding.

I was looking at these and heard about the price drop fairly early on. Was quite interested possibly getting one for travelling (and being low value, not caring too much if it got damaged or stolen). I went to a mobile phone store and played with one.

Even at $99 I dont think I would buy it, its pretty bad. If I could get Android on it though, I would reconsider.

that is what i am betting on, hardware wise it should be just as fast as the ipad 2 with a dual core cpu and 1gb of ram, its just the software holding it back.
Yeah, I'm not sure why you would still get it. If it's a turd, but marked down in price, isn't it still a turd?

i would not call it a turd, my parents are certainly enjoying having tablets, something that would not have spent 500 dollars a piece on for themselves to have ipads. as far as build quality it feels like a big iPhone 3g

they said hp was working on an update to help with performance, hopefully they still release that, because other than the slowness i really like some of the features of web os, like Syngergy.

Barnes & Noble currently has them in stock, and the site hasn't been crushed yet.

The reason for most of the performance issues are due to HP turning way too much event logging running in the background. The first OTA update and a few tweaks from this link will make it purr.

Call around to your brick and mortar stores and see if someone has bought one and returned it!

I got lucky and found one Office Depot not far from me where they were of course sold out, but someone had returned one, unopened, and I had them reserve it for me until I got there.

i found out about the firesale Friday night so i staked out Walmart, ordered 3 originally, then bought a 4th for my grandmother. now i wish i had gotten more because other family members want one and we cant find anymore. our walmart was sold out around noon.

we went down to valdosta yesterday so i could setup my grandmother's touchpad, we tried staples in tifton, and then called officemax, officedepot, target, bestbuy, and sams club, all were sold out.

I've been following the wiki on this page since Saturday a.m. They've been good about keeping it updated.

HP loaded more touchpads onto their website for purchase Sunday on their Small & Medium Business store and I was able to order two 32GB's. I have a feeling they may do that again as more touchpads are returned to their warehouse. Also some of the Amazon stores have finally reduced prices and I ordered another 16GB last night through them.
