HP Print but no print

I've had this one particular issue with HP's which I'm wondering if someone has a solution. You send a print or test print with the print queue window showing there is a super brief print job that shows in the queue and then it disappears which is followed by nothing printing.

There are of course the normal steps of restart computer, restart printer, update HP printer software, update printer firmware and so on. However, if you do some Googling you'll find the cases where none of this fixed the issue. I found uninstalling and reinstalling the software seems to dig deeper into the quagmire.

Is anyone familiar with this issue AND have you found the magic solution to fix it?

No, I've had this happen on 3 machines in the last 8 months. All HP software. I had thought it was a Win7 issue but it just happened on a Win10 machine. I "cheated" on this last one and used a restore point. I was hoping someone had developed a "tried & true" method having faced this issue themselves. I'm just looking for some tips I may have overlooked.

On these machines the standard repairs have not worked such as restarting the printer spooler, clearing out any stuck print jobs, removing or updating the HP software and Firmware. Updating and/or removing the drivers from device mgr and installing. Running SFC & DSM repairs. And I've only had this issue with HP Printers.

From memory...look in printer properties and find the bit that says 'Print to spool' or similar. Change it whatever other options you have (likely 'print direct to printer' or something). Similarly dicker about with any related settings. Scientific? No, but it's worked for me on occasion.

Is this a network printer? Check the port if so. If it is not an ip go to the printer and change to a fixed ip. Make sure you know to select an ip that is not in the DHCP range. Then go to the pc's that are having this problem and change the port to the new ip address. Hopefully I did not create a mess or misunderstand.

I have seen at least 12 of these now. The print job flashes in the queue and disappears, never prints. Reinstall drivers, do a manual clean-out of drivers, most of the time it doesn't work.

But in every single case so far, running Windows AIO as a last resort has fixed it. Last one I saw I ran it first, never did need to flush drivers.

Got to be some sort of permissions thing.
