HP Officejet Pro 8600 update firmware on Mac

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus All-in-One

printer will not print thru wireless despite being detected on Mac and setup also will not print with Iphone it detects it on Iphone but will not print

I reinstalled all the drivers
It prints OK thru USB on Mac Lion 10.7.5
I thought if I update firmware it might fix problem
How do I do this on a MAC

or possible firmware on modem/router ISP could do that

I also posted this question on HP site last time I posted there I never got an answer that's why I posted here also
I got a very good answer for those that are interested.

I did not want to update firmware as he just bought new generic cartridges I think it's more a router issue

You may update the firmware and see if that may help by following the steps below:

The latest firmware version is 1545 (e.g. the listed firmware version would be XXXX1545XX), it can be downloaded from here if needed:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJP8600_N911g-n_R1545A.dmg



If that won't help, Apple devices uses Bonjour, a such might happen due to lack of Bonjour support or a router issue as you may find described below, see the 'Confirm that your router supports Bonjour (Apple devices only)' section:

Try rebooting your router, allow it 3 minutes to start and restart the printer, then check for any difference.



If the same persists, consult your router service provider on this matter.



A good way to ensure a such would be enabling Wireless Direct for the printer and connecting an Apple Device directly to it (bypassing the router), if that allows printing, that fully confirm that the router breaks the Bonjour connection, using a such described int he following article:
