Hp LaserJet M1522n

Hi all,

I have a client with an HP LaserJet M1522n. It has recently started printing pictures in an overlapping way but text documents are fine. I tried updating the drivers, calibrating etc to no avail. He is not terribly worried about this since
A: it is older and he is considering replacement.
B: he very seldom needs to print pictures so not a daily hindrance.
That said, if there is an easy fix, I'm sure he will be happy to have it fully functional until he replaces it.

Replacement is where the real question is. He is concerned about securely donating this printer when he replaces it and this is a new question to me. He prints secure documents for work and wants to be certain nothing can be accessed later. Beyond resetting the printer back to factory settings, what should I do?

I didn't think that model had a hard drive. If it does, pull it and destroy/wipe it. If it doesn't, nothing can transfer to the next owner except current settings which can easily be reset..

Thanks, I couldn't find anything on a drive for this one but wanted to put it out there in case I missed it.

Yeah, machines at that price point will never have a internal hard drive. Those start around $1k and up and usually they are optional. And leaving it off for even a few minutes erases anything that was in the memory and/or processor.

I had a similar issue but with overlapping text. I wasted so much time screwing around with PCL5 & 6 drivers/settings to no avail.

This simple fix worked for me. I powered off the printer, removed the USB cable, rebooted the PC, reinstalled USB cable and finally turned the printer back on. It sounds so simplistic but it worked!

I once had a customer with a similar model and problem. Running many calibrations worked. It seems to only slightly realign each time and doing about 10 it was finally back in alignment
